Welcome to Canmore

Canmore, Alberta is located 106km west of Calgary and only an hour’s drive from the Calgary International Airport. The small town of Canmore is home to 12,000 permanent residents with an additional non-permanent population of 5,500.

The town center is at an elevation of 1,309 metres (4,296 Feet) with the surrounding peaks in the neighborhood of 3,000m (9,900 feet). Mount Lougheed in particular, to the south of town, tops out at 3,107m (10,253 feet) and requires only a moderate scramble to the top.

Within town limits are over 71km (114 miles) of multi-use trails for hiking, biking and running. Canmore is within an hour’s drive of five major ski resorts, and the Canmore Nordic Center — home to the 1998 Olympic’s nordic skiing events — is just south of town.

Further from town, world-class terrain offers endless opportunities for hiking, running, paddling and rock, ice and alpine climbing. Click on any of the main menu items above to find specific information on the activities that interest you.
